Our client is a renowned and global energy trading MNC which is a market leader in its field. An opportunity now arises for an experienced fleet analyst with relevant freight analytics and research exp to join its shipping team.

For this role, you are in the Research / Trading Department. You will report to the Global Head of Research (based in Singapore) with a dotted line to the Head of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • develop market fundamentals, short/medium term supply/demand analysis, and trader support for the trading function globally – with primary focus on Asia Pacific analysis for Middle Distillates products
  • provide support for ship and cargo tracking for Asia region
  • provide support to ad-hoc projects and analysis around market fundamentals to support trade ideas.
  • work closely with trading team to develop outlook of market trends, incorporate downtime, seasonal cycles, macroeconomic variables and utilizing import/export data to ensure model accuracy
  • demonstrate and develop strong understanding of commodity pricing, including location spreads, time spreads, crack spreads, commodity spreads, forward curves and seasonality
  • communicate external and internal market views to assist traders with successful implementation of trading strategies
  • understand/communicate geopolitical and regulatory events/factors which may impact price movements
  • provide support to information gathering process and developing presentation packages as needed.
  • drive improvement of existing forecast models and developing new models for commercial outcomes.

Skills:

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with expertise in market modeling and forecasting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools and software (e.g., Excel, Power BI, Tableau).
  • Strong understanding of the energy sector and market dynamics.
  • Working knowledge of broader commodity markets (Crude, Gasoline, Distillates)
  • Working knowledge of refining/petrochemicals

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, Economics, Finance, or a related field. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
  • Experience: About 3 to 10 years of experience in market analysis or a related role, with a proven track record of leading market research and providing strategic insights.

  • The role may involve working with confidential and sensitive information.
