About this role:

Leading the APAC Wholesale Operations teams in the region, the Regional Head is responsible for setting the strategic direction, executing the strategy and providing senior level oversight on the day-to-day activities for the regional as part of the International Wholesale Operations Group. This position is responsible for all the following Operational functions across 6 countries (Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan, China, South Korea) within the region: Markets Operations (Middle office, Collateral, APAC Transaction Reporting); Trade Services and Standby Letters of Credit; Lending; Operations activities to our Channel Finance business and customers which would include invoice/credit memo processing, funding, cash application, participation support, customer maintenance activities; and Correspondent Banking Operations. As such, all service attributes such as processing efficiency, processing quality, service continuity, customer care, and processing timeliness are under the direct accountability of this position.


In this role, you will:

Leadership

  • Provide leadership to the APAC Wholesale Operations team and support the Regional COO and business lines.
  • Be the senior contact for APAC Wholesale Operations employees, providing guidance and direction, and acting as an escalation point.
  • Create a culture where employees are challenged, engaged, responsible and drive the change agenda.
  • Be an active ambassador for the business and foster a culture of risk management by leading the team and business with a balanced perspective.
  • Proactively build and drive cooperative relationships within the Wholesale Operations teams and across the enterprise with relevant partners including Business, Risk, Technology, Compliance, Legal, Finance, etc.

Risk Management

  • Work closely with Risk teams to enhance regulatory awareness and ensure reputational integrity of Wells Fargo. Provide regional oversight of the business to drive growth and support the development and implementation of appropriate controls.
  • Make sure risk and issues in APAC Wholesale Operations in region are tracked, escalated, and followed up. Accountable for issues in APAC Wholesale Operations.
  • Support of APAC regulatory exams and / or audits - Drive remediation and ensure platform tracking of APAC audit and self-identified Corrective Actions within prescribed delivery timelines in coordination with Issue Owners & Independent Risk Management, regional management, risk management, business control executives and LOBs
  • Partner with Compliance, legal and risk partners to ensure the businesses remain compliant with regulatory standards of conduct and on the remediation of critical issues.

Talent Management

  • Responsible for the Human Capital processes such as rewards and employee engagement in partnership with Regional Human Resources and the International Wholesale Operations team.
  • Actively participate in talent management, DE&I initiatives and ensure the implementation of the programmes within International Wholesale Operations
  • Undertake Compensation planning and delivery.

Strategy

  • Help shape regional strategy in conjunction with International Head of Wholesale Operations and Regional COO, provide leadership and strategic input to provide services to US and regional business partners; drive change and adoption of the strategy in partnership with leaders.
  • Lead the regional team and develop strategy for the region to ensure efficient and proper use of human capital to support the operational needs, address functional & financial effectiveness, increase operational efficiency, and drive operational consistency.
  • Shaping teams to ensure customer experience goals in region are executed.


Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Capital Markets industry experience, or equivalent experience demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong Leadership skills and mindset.
  • Previous experience of managing multiple teams within Operations.
  • The ability to be hands on across all the teams to provide guidance and assistance with problem solving.
  • Experience of working with project stakeholders to deliver change.
  • Strong Analytical skills. Needs the ability to digest large sets of information.
  • An excellent product knowledge across the CIB Markets products lifecycle including: Fixed Income, FX, Futures and Options, and OTC Derivatives including and a good understanding of the Banking products.
  • Good understanding of the market wide infrastructure and settlement systems.
  • Knowledge of transaction reporting including MAS, HKMA
  • Proven track record of process improvements and project delivery.
  • Outstanding customer service skills, be deadline oriented.
  • Ability to work in a highly pressurized environment.
  • Represent Wholesale Operations in various senior forums and meetings.
  • Acting with a global mindset, experience of working with colleagues across multiple locations.
