HTX is looking for a suitable candidate with passion for fire safety and be part of the team to regulate fire safety standards in buildings. This is done through the processing of Temporary Fire Permit/Fire Safety Certificate applications, auditing of building/fire protection/mechanical ventilation plans and carrying out of site inspection to ensure the completed buildings are in compliance of the requirements stipulated in the Fire Code and relevant Codes of Practices. The job-holder may also be required to provide consultations to the building industry.

The job-holder will report to the Senior Assistant Director of the Fire Safety Department in SCDF.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in regulating fire safety standards in buildings in accordance with the provisions of the Fire Safety Act and Regulations
  • Assist with the activation of FCs for new premises such that they fall under the FC criteria and comply with the prevailing Fire Safety Act/Subsidiary Legislations.
  • Attend and respond to industry professionals such as QP (Qualified Person)/RI (Registered Inspector)-related consultations pertaining to inspection matters, requirements of fire code, the emergency preparedness measures such as ERP, FSM and CERT schemes
  • Attend to RI, QP, FSM & members of public enquiries on buildings’ fire safety systems and code of practices.
  • Analyse/follow up to devise RPA tools such as tracking of renewals and expiry FC cases, over and under payment FC cases, streamlining the existing manual extraction of FC data etc.
  • Work with related agencies such as MTI to resolve technical FC glitches when applicants apply FC via Go Biz WOG computerized system
  • To audit plans submitted by Qualified Persons.
  • To conduct site inspection for completed fire safety works.
  • To investigate fire safety related complaints and feedback cases.

Job requirements

  • Diploma, preferably degree, in Architectural or Engineering.
  • Preferably with at least 5 years experience in the building industry involving design, testing or inspection of fire safety system.
  • Knowledge of local Fire Code and other relevant Codes of Practices will be an advantage.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as in a team
  • To possess good verbal, written and interpersonal skills
