- Support world-class research in A*STAR institutes in a wide range of fields including communications, AI & data science, cybersecurity, modelling and simulations, materials, chemicals, microelectronics, manufacturing technologies and metrology;
- Plan and promote research in strategic areas to create knowledge and innovation that will drive the development of knowledge-intensive industries;
- Cultivate and engage an extensive network of industry partners via various programmes to facilitate a seamless flow of technologies from conception to commercialisation.
The Senior Assistant Director / Assistant Director in the Digital Tech & Computing Cluster of SERC is required to strategise, organise, and drive A*STAR's R&D initiatives in digital technologies and computing, such as:
- AI and Data Science
- Communications (e.g. 5G)
- Digital Trust technologies
- Cybersecurity
- Modelling & Simulations
- Advanced computing
- Quantum Technologies
- Strategic planning, coordination, and collaborations in digital technology R&D with Ministries & Public Agencies partners, research Institutes, Institutes of Higher Learning, and industry sectors
- Long-term R&D planning and stakeholder engagements that shape and contribute directly to the national R&D agenda (e.g. RIE 2025)
- Technology foresighting and masterplanning to optimise R&D investment portfolio and ensure alignment with national priorities
- R&D programme strategy development and design, which entails convening relevant public agencies, enterprises, and research entities (within A*STAR and from Institutes of Higher Learning) into collaboration programmes and securing necessary management support and resources for programme execution
- R&D programme execution and management, including planning for subsequent technology translation and commercialisation
- Strategic development and reviews of digital technology and computing capabilities in A*STAR Research Institutes
- Research proposals evaluation, project reviews and post-award project management
- Background in Engineering, IT or Computer Science, with at least 5 years of working experience in relevant areas
- Ability to think strategically, analyse issues from different angles and devise comprehensive solutions
- Knowledge in a broad range of digital technologies, the digital industry, their trends, challenges, and potentials
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to articulate strategies to decision makers and to form trusting partnerships
- Proactive learning attitude, attention to details and results-oriented
- Shares a common purpose in shaping research and innovation in digital technologies to bring about economic and societal outcomes for Singapore
