Maersk Oil Trading (MOT) acts as the sourcing arm for Maersk in terms of supply, storage, purchase and delivery of fuel for vessels. Maersk is the key customer (80%), and, in 2022, MOT handled 11M mt of total fuel purchases. With fuel being amongst the main operating cost of Maersk's vessels operating expenses, MOT focuses on optimizing through various channels, including blending, tolling and barging. We are a mixture of talented and passionate industry professionals, traders, and technical experts.

MOT is part of the wider Maersk Energy Transition team numbering around 150 employees located in a handful of offices around the world - from New York and Singapore to Mumbai, Geneva and Copenhagen. This role will be based in Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working within a team of four traders as a cargo trader in the South-East Asia region with a focus on the Singapore Straits market

  • Trading of FOB, DAP, and CIF cargoes of Low Sulphur, High Sulphur and Bio-fuels.

  • Development and implementation of hedging and proprietary trading strategies

  • Stakeholder management of key suppliers and customers

  • Contributor to the respective fuel blending programmes

  • Monitoring and improving the performance of suppliers and relevant stakeholders in the supply chain

  • Contract management and performing of administrative requirements.

  • Developing profitable relationships with MOT teams in Europe and the Americas to generate new business.

We are looking for

  • 2-5 years of trading experience in physical commodities, preferably fuel and/or gasoil.

  • Marine fuel oil blending and bunker operations experience is preferred but not a pre-requisite.

  • An energetic and pro-active self-starter with good attention to detail who is familiar with operating in a changing, active, multicultural environment.

  • You will have a University education or equivalent industry experience.

  • Motivation to improve and an analytical mindset with a 24/7 mentality. You are an Individual who is motivated to always look for ways to improve and deliver better results.

  • You will be fluent in both written and spoken English and have good interpersonal skills.

  • Experience in a related role is required.
