Responsibilities

The successful candidate will primarily support the origination and execution activities across a broad range of structured finance transactions (project finance and asset finance) in the Asia Pacific market. The candidate will work across sector teams within Financing and Advisory, with a focus on project financing transactions in energy and telecom/media/tech sectors. Based in Singapore, the candidate will need to work closely with the Hong Kong, Sydney, Tokyo and Mumbai teams as required, as well as regional teams in South-East Asia. The candidate will also work with other areas of the bank such as client coverage, distribution and loan syndication, sustainable finance, debt capital markets, credit risk management and market risk management.

This is a Trainee position within the Financing and Advisory junior talent pool. The successful candidate will report to the Singapore-based manager of the junior talent pool and work closely with the junior talent pool staffers on work assignment. As part of the junior talent pool, the candidate will be expected to demonstrate ability to work and develop relationships with a diverse group of stakeholders, including senior front officers, as well as participate in a junior training program and share knowledge within the junior talent pool.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Contribute to the identification and origination of potential new business opportunities and assist with the preparation of marketing materials;
  • Build financial models including scenarios, sensitivity analysis and asset value parameters;
  • Review of transactional documentation, including deal information memorandum and finance documents;
  • Provide day to day transaction support in all aspects of the deal process, including the preparation of credit applications, a detailed due diligence and assessment of risks, and assistance with the use of pricing and profitability internal models
  • Manage other internal processes relating to advisory and financing transactions e.g. updating databases, briefing and meeting notes, completing internal system-based processes, etc…
  • Complying with all relevant process and internal guidelines in relation to the execution of advisory & financing transactions.

ACADEMIC BACKGROUND AND CERTIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience in structured or corporate finance in a financial institution desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability in project finance modelling preferred. Shortlisted candidates will have to sit for a project finance modelling assessment run by the junior talent pool staffers.

  • Ability to perform financial projections and credit analysis
  • Capacity to review and synthetize various documentation, including information memorandum and finance documents
  • Curiosity to keeps abreast of evolving industry trends and market updates in energy and telecom/media/tech sectors in the Asia Pacific region
