The School of Art Design and Media (ADM) in collaboration with the Robotics Research Centre 2 (RRC2) at the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) invites suitable applications for the position of Research Assistant for the project Anticipatory Robotics.
Project Introduction:
The project titled Anticipatory Robotics aims to improve Human-Robot Interaction by developing a “Robot Body Language” wherein messages including emotions are incorporated into the movements of collaborative robots.
Key Responsibilities:
Design animated and motion-capture trajectories of a single-arm robot while incorporating different emotions/messages into the robot movements
Conduct literature review to support research
Manage project-related administrative work
Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Arts
Familiarity with 3D animation (blender) and Motion Capture
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Excellent organizational skills and able to work within given deadlines
Proactive and able to work independently
Good team player
Self-directed learner who effectively picks up relevant skills as needed
