About the role:

Our client are seeking a dynamic and experienced Operations Director to lead their team and drive the achievement of key business objectives. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping and implementing strategic growth plans while ensuring operational excellence across various departments (including but not limited to claims, underwriting and IT). You will oversee the development and execution of sales and growth strategies, maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, and ensure compliance across all areas of the business.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of business growth strategies, ensuring revenue targets and market share goals are met.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership to align company culture with core values, fostering an environment of innovation and success.
  • Oversee team operations, including IT, Claims, and Underwriting, ensuring that business processes and compliance measures are adhered to.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders, representing the company in external forums and corporate activities.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives, embedding them into everyday business practices, and lead internal engagement strategies to align employees with the company's sustainability vision.
  • Review and grow existing portfolios while contributing to new business development, supporting product and service launches.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and development opportunities to the team to foster high performance and growth.


Requirements:

  • Experience in Insurance Industry: Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior leadership role as an Operations or Technical Director, ideally within the insurance sector, with a strong preference for general insurance experience.
  • Leadership and Team Development: Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing, cross-functional teams across IT, Claims, and Underwriting. Proven ability to mentor and foster talent while creating a collaborative work environment.
  • Strategic and Operational Expertise: Strong track record in formulating and executing business growth strategies, operational processes, and compliance measures. Experience in driving innovation and managing large-scale operational projects.
  • Stakeholder Management: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to manage relationships with key stakeholders, clients, and external partners. Ability to represent the company at industry forums and external engagements.
  • Financial Acumen: Strong financial management skills, with experience in overseeing budgeting, forecasting, and ensuring cost-effectiveness while achieving revenue and profitability targets.
  • Problem-Solving and Decision-Making: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make informed decisions in high-pressure situations and lead teams through complex challenges.
  • Sustainability Initiatives: A forward-thinking mindset with experience in driving sustainability-focused projects and embedding sustainable practices into daily business operations.
  • Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of industry regulations, compliance, and risk management protocols. Ability to ensure that all operations meet regulatory standards and maintain the highest level of ethical integrity.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Business, Management, Economics, or a related field. An advanced degree or industry-specific certification (e.g., ACII) would be advantageous.
