Viatris Tuas has been producing and supplying Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API’s) for decades, for global markets. Over the past number of years, there has been significant investment in the site regarding upgrades to equipment and automation so that our products are ready for the future. Role Summary

The Site Procurement Director will provide centralized leadership and management of all procurement activities occurring at the site. He/She will effectively partner with cross-function stakeholders to drive efficiencies and the development of new strategies to optimize site’s costs.

The Site Procurement Director is responsible for identifying, building and managing effective relationships with key suppliers to deliver best quality at the lowest total cost of ownership and improving the site’s supply performance. He/She will effectively utilize strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management processes to achieve company’s goals of securing continuity of supply of raw materials, goods and services, reducing total cost of ownership, improving supplier quality and working capital, reducing raw material/goods inventory and establishing external partnerships to accelerate innovation.

The role also provides operational and strategic support including planning and executing local and global sourcing projects, negotiations and contract management as well as managing critical stakeholder engagements. The Site Procurement Director will sit on the Site Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities for this role include:

I. Sourcing Activity and Contract Negotiation

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans, processes and tools as appropriate
  • Serve as primary representative to lead sourcing initiatives, proposal development, options analysis, evaluation and selection of suppliers and materials to obtain best value
  • Manage essential communication within cross-functional teams
  • Identify, and when appropriate, lead and manage contract negotiations, ensuring price, working capital, quality and service targets and standards are achieved
  • Create, approve, and maintain contracts to ensure terms are supported by both Supplier and Viatris within designated authority limits, ensuring compliance with legislation and Viatris policies and procedures
  • Support site efforts to drive down total cost and reduce cycle time and improve site/corporate working capital and sustainability goals and objectives
  • Develop and maintain supply chain risk assessments and drive supply chain risk mitigation activities as prioritized

II. Supplier Relationship Management

  • Develop supplier relationships in line with business requirements by maintaining positive engagement with vendors and visiting vendors’ site as appropriate
  • Develop, implement, and share plans for evaluating and measuring vendor performance of strategic and tactical suppliers through strategic sourcing process
  • Ensure timely delivery and specified quality levels are achieved and when necessary, resolve quantity and/or service issues with appropriate people
  • Lead efforts to implement new or alternative materials and specifications with existing suppliers; facilitate timeliness of change control process
  • Benchmark and recommend process improvement & operational efficiency initiatives; lead where appropriate
  • Work with quality, technical, purchasing groups to determine and aid suppliers with implementing process capability & reliability measures for key suppliers

III. Category Strategy collaboration

  • Support global and regional Category Leads in strategy definition, develop synergies within the region, including developing and maintaining local supplier and market intelligence
  • Seek, Identify, and leverage cost savings opportunities
  • Seek, identify and share opportunities for continuous improvement in sourcing and business process tools, as well as supplier alignment and selection
  • Timely sharing of site-based plans and objectives to help assure alignment of category strategy
  • Work with Category Leads, relevant stakeholders and suppliers on global/regional RFP’s and other sourcing projects where appropriate

IV. Stakeholder Engagement and Relationship Management

  • Proactively gain involvement and participation of key stakeholders on sourcing and procurement initiatives
  • Serve as an advisor to stakeholder groups by explaining the advantages and disadvantages associated with different sourcing options including comparison of supply sources and market analysis. Ensure the appropriate level of engagement and communication with key stakeholder groups.
  • Lead and participate in stakeholders’ meetings where required. Raise questions and provide information to identify alternative solutions to support business needs.
  • Meet with finance representative and budget holder regularly to understand spending and budgeting implications for all sourcing initiatives.

V. Business Processes and Compliance

  • Work together with the Regional Leads responsible for business processes and compliance to secure alignment across the region and compliance with all Viatris relevant policies and procedures.
  • Ensure efficient operation of transactional activity to meet cost, quality and stakeholders’ expectations.
  • Ensure sourcing activities comply with enterprise, site and government policies, including compliance to GMP standards as appropriate.
  • Interpret, oversee and ensure the implementation of corporate global policies, site and business specific guidelines and SOPs within the site Procurement functions

VI. Reporting

  • Support annual budget, saving and Purchase Price Variance (PPV forecast) forecast process,
  • Ensure Sourcing metrics are in place for the site
  • Establish appropriate tools (scorecards, etc) for communication, monitoring progress of implementation and ongoing compliance
  • Timely submission of Scorecards, PPV forecast and any other reports as and when required.

VII. People Management and Development

  • Manage performance and development of the Sourcing team
  • Provide direction, training, and motivation necessary to secure their optimum commitment, competencies and engagement.
  • Identify succession plan for Sourcing Team
  • Provide coaching and development for the team and create a team positive environment that drives high colleague engagement.
  • Ensure effective utilization of the Global Performance Management process for all colleagues.

The minimum qualifications & competencies for this role are:

  • 10 years’ experience in Procurement; preferably Pharmaceutical Industry or Medical Devices Industry
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • SAP experience is required
  • CIPS/CPM/CPSM or equivalent accreditation preferred
  • Experience with contract management, financial analyses,
  • Good track record of delivering cost savings.
  • Sourcing and Procurement experience is essential, ideally a pharmaceutical environment.
  • Prior experience in setting up procurement department from scratch is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills & eye for details
  • Strategic thinking required
  • Project Management experience required
  • Proficient in English is mandatory
  • Good communication and presentation skills - verbal and written
  • Proven negotiation and influencing skills
  • Able to work with all levels of the organization and in complex/matrix structures
