Civil & Structural Designer

Job Description

Wood is recruiting for a Civil & Structural Designer, preferably experienced in Chemical / Oil & Gas Sector / similar industry. There is an increased thrust to deliver our services for the growing Asian market. As a result of this, Civil & Structural Department operation is expanding and evolving to manage the challenges of regional projects through a global talent pool.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring design quality, technical accuracy of drawings, material quantities, specifications, procedures, etc. produced within the assigned designer team.
• Execution of assigned work in accordance with applicable contract procedures, standards.
• Support Lead Engineer / Designer with high quality and timely completion of the assigned work within the established work hour budgets for the assigned project.
• Keeping assigned Designer team fully informed of latest applicable standards and good practices, maintaining uniformity in design and drafting activities.
• Ensuring modelling, design and drafting activities are carried out within the established schedule and within allocated Manhours.
• Ensure Civil / Structural detailing are in accordance with established WOOD standards.
• Ensure equipment support arrangement and detailing are as per approved vendor drawings.
• Preparing, reviewing, Checking, Issuing and follow up of all Civil Structural design and drafting deliverables up to the issue for construction, controlling and issuance of Advance Revision Notices (ARN).
• Ensure proper maintenance of up to date drawing / design deliverable register, drafting master files for issued, day and superseded files, check prints, drawing check list, vendor equipment GA and other discipline stick files, etc… in accordance with relevant Civil Technical Practices.
• Reviewing, issuing and follow-up the comments, within his term of reference, on all drawings/documents related to other discipline which may be affected by Civil / Structural activities.
• Ensuring that the 3D model represents satisfactory design practice. Coordinate 3D modelling activities of the team and with other discipline designers to maintain clash free model.
  
  

Qualifications

Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering with 2 to 10 years of experience in Refinery / Petrochemical / Chemical / Power / Pharmaceutical Plant Projects.

• Good experience in Aveva E3D and structural steel modeling and 2D detailing.
• Adept and hands on experience with 2D and 3D design/drafting tools such as Autocad, Microstation, TEKLA, Navisworks, SPR, etc.
• Experience in 3D model setup, report and templete setup for drawings and MTO extraction
• Thorough knowledge of Civil / Structural design / detailing for pipe racks and all types of equipment support structures, such as for Vessels, Exchangers, Tanks, Pumps, Compressors, heaters, Columns, Reactors, Package items, etc. and foundations
• Good understanding of overall plant layout and thorough knowledge of developing Underground, Civil and Structural model with design and detailing capabilities, including concrete reinforcement and steel connection detailing.
• Knowledge in Local Singapore CSA Permitting Requirements and experience in BIM modelling.
