ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Field Service Technician is a hands-on team player who will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient deployment, operation, maintenance, and repair of our HyperCube systems at multiple sites. The ideal candidate will be responsible for keeping our site operations running smoothly through providing high quality technical support, troubleshooting issues, and maintaining a strong customer relationship while adhering to safety and quality standards. This role requires on-site support and a willingness to tackle various tasks, including maintenance, repair, and manual labour.

Equipment Maintenance

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, installation and repairs on a range of mechanical, electrical, computing and ancillary systems associated with our data centre deployments, thus ensuring optimal functionality and longevity.

Troubleshooting

  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues, utilising problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.

Deployment

  • Assist with computer modification works under direction of the site manager.
  • Assist to fill/drain the HyperCube with fluid under the direction of the infrastructure team.
  • Install/remove load banks as part of the commissioning process.
  • Assist to install computers as required.
  • Assist with installation of network cables into installed compute base.
  • Assist with commissioning and site teams as required.

Operations

  • Initial onsite fault response (electrical staff only)
  • Reset circuit breaker/replace fuse etc.
  • Reset pump/alarm/fault find under direction of GOC and SMEs.
  • Remove faulty computers from tank. Repair if within skillset and/or return to workshop.
  • Basic fault finding on Compute and Network under the director of GOC and SME.
  • Site Management – empty HyperCool waste bins, clean up after site works, general maintenance and cleaning of SMC space.
  • OHS – undertake inspections as required and update first aid kits and eyewash stations, ensure PPE is available onsite.
  • Daily, weekly, monthly maintenance and inspections as required.
  • Escort visitors/other contractors on our sites and issue permits under the direction of GOC.
  • Assist with any tasks such as delivery of equipment to site, collection of equipment from stores etc.

Stakeholder Management

  • Provide excellent service to our Project and Operations teams through prompt response and effective communications.

Documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, and equipment maintenance, ensuring all paperwork and documentation are completed accurately and submitted on time.

Safety Compliance

  • Adhere to safety protocols, guidelines, and regulations to ensure a safe working environment for both yourself and customers.

Training

  • Stay up-to-date with product knowledge and industry trends through ongoing training and development.

Equipment Testing

  • Conduct performance testing and quality checks on equipment after repairs or maintenance to ensure they meet specifications.

Inventory Management

  • Maintain an inventory of necessary spare parts, tools, and equipment required for field service assignments.

Travel

  • Travel to our sites as needed, ensuring timely response to service requests.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Diploma or equivalent; technical certification; trade qualification.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in a similar role, including hands-on experience with electrical equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Good problem-solving and communication skills. Proven to be able to work effectively under direction.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as this position is part of a 24/7 operating roster.
  • Familiarity with Data Centre apparatus is a plus.
