Job Description

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Runs routine or standard tests, such as weight, volume, density, viscosity, color, and other tests that require little interpretation or judgment.

Performs basic calculations on test results to determine if product is within proper boundaries; notifies supervisors when required.

Recommends simple formula or material adjustments to the product based on test results and formula requirements; receives direction on issues when required.

Cleans, maintains and calibrates standard equipment and maintains a clean and safe working environment.

Completes and enters a variety of forms, logs, and reports detailing test results based on operating procedures.

May interact with production, maintenance, technology or other plant personnel to communicate test results, receive guidance, and provide feedback.

May provide routine or standard customer assistance.

May perform work similar to a batchmaker or operator, which would require greater physical ability and working conditions.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all tests are completed and results meet all specifications before going to the next production process
  • Enter all batch data into the electronic batch records system
  • Generate appropriate paperwork as needed per customer specifications
  • Gather and send customer samples as required
  • Utilize appropriate computer systems to ensure effective testing of products
  • Determine disposition of non-compliant finished goods
  • Place non-conforming material on hold as needed
  • Support the ISO Management Systems and Safety Systems.
  • Maintain inventory of lab supplies
  • Identify and communicate product issues to other departments as needed
  • Create, maintain, and update standard operating procedures for Quality Department to meet ISO requirements
  • Assist in training of other lab technicians as needed

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Experience Within a Lab Or Production Setting Is Preferred.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

High school graduate or equivalent education and experience.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Performing mathematical calculations;
  • Following instructions and test steps;
  • Ability to learn mixture formulas, techniques, and standards;
  • Completing forms and documentation;
  • PC skills; Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook); and other applicable applications;
  • Communicating with co-workers to provide and receive direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Have at least one (1) year of experience working in a quality control laboratory
  • Have at least one (1) year of experience working in a manufacturing or distribution facility
