Overview of Role

Recruitment of potential participants for donation of leftover tissue samples for NUH Tissue Repository and collaboration with other departments’ researchers if required.

The job-holder is expected to practise within the organisation endorsed scope of practice, established organisational policies, procedures and practice; and Singapore Nursing Board nursing practice and competency standards. (Applicable if the job holder holds a Diploma in Nursing certification).

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Identifies potential patient whose operations are likely to yield surgical research specimens.
  • To be familiarize with HBRA and HTF requirements.
  • To adhere to compliance with Research governance, good clinical practice, data protection and ethical requirements.
  • Ensure and promote continuous process improvement / review of processes in project management through quality indications.
  • Key performance measures include percentage of consenting, samples collected and management of projects.
  • Ensure policies and procedures are current
  • Maintain close liaison with Medical Technologists working for NUH Tissue Repository on sample collection.
  • Liaison with other department's research coordinators / staffs in case selection and collection of specimen.
  • Update researchers / research coordinators on the clinical data required.
  • Ensure timely dissemination of information, escalation of issues and recommending solutions to problems
  • Enters clinical information of patients into a research database.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality is maintained.
  • Participate in data entry for other research if required.
  • Ensure accuracy in all data entries.
  • Encourage multi-disciplinary teamwork
  • Organizing and coordinating operational processes of areas assigned
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by department manager or reporting officer.

Requirements

  • Qualification Required and Area of Discipline
  • Diploma / Degree in Nursing / Life Science, Biomedical Science or related qualification
  • Minimum 1 - 2 years relevant experience
  • Proficient in speaking Mandarin and English
