About EDB New Ventures

EDB New Ventures is the venture building arm of EDB. Our aim is to support the creation and scaling of high potential new ventures from Singapore to become globally leading businesses. To do so, we are spearheading novel ways of partnering with companies on their corporate venturing journeys and with established global founders as they build their next ventures from Singapore. This includes embarking on joint venture building sprints alongside partner corporates / global founders, supporting corporate-startup partnership initiatives, co-investment with corporates to risk-share early-stage growth of their ventures and active portfolio value creation support to scale each venture.

We are looking for an individual to join us as a Senior Manager to manage and support a portfolio of identified high growth startups to scale, as well as develop growth initiatives and value propositions for the ventures ecosystem in Singapore. Join our fast-growing and dynamic team!

[What you will be working on]

Account Management and Value Creation

  • Engage companies and founders who are interested to build/ building new ventures in Singapore.
  • Evaluate high potential ventures and serve as the main contact person from EDB to this portfolio of high growth startups and their founders.
  • Cultivate relationships and build trust with clients, developing a deep understanding of their needs. Activate relevant resources and expertise (in EDB/ government/ ecosystem partners) to support client growth in Singapore and globally.
  • Build sound understanding of local, regional, global industry trends, innovation ecosystems, whole-of-government offerings, and EDB products and services to create value for clients.
  • Lead analysis of gaps and opportunities (at industry, sector or firm level) within portfolio of accounts, to inform new growth initiatives.
  • Lead or support project teams to manage ongoing, as well as develop new growth initiatives (e.g. talent, community, marketing) that can significantly attract more founders/ corporates to work with us and value-add to the ventures in our portfolio.
  • Provide input where relevant to appropriate teams in EDB and/or rest of government on policies or product/ service development (e.g. in incentive design, resourcing).
  • As the candidate gains more experience, there will be opportunities to take on more leadership and strategy formulation responsibilities. The candidate can also expect to work closely with the EDB Investments team in the engagement and due diligence of the ventures and founders.

[What we are looking for]

To meet the challenges of this role, you must have:

  • A strong interest and passion in working on value creation with startups and creating systems-level impact
  • 6 - 9 years of relevant working experience, preferably within the venturing ecosystem (e.g. venture studio, accelerators, corporate incubation, design studios, venture capital)
  • Experience in value creation, relationship management, new business development and/or go-to-market strategy, with results in company expansion, especially in Singapore and Asia
  • Strong analytical ability that can be applied in designing of systems-level programmes, research and understanding of opportunity areas, distillation of qualitative and quantitative data into insights, development and assessment of venture opportunities
  • Practitioners of Agile, lean and user-centred design methodologies/ market research analysis is a plus
  • Possess the following skill sets and attributes:

    • Confident with high level of resourcefulness to drive new initiatives and projects and achieve results
