Technology Manager for Electrical Products and Systems

Role Summary:

GDS International (GDSI) is at the forefront of data center technology, driving innovation and efficiency in plant and equipment selection. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Technology Manager to join our Technology Team in developing cutting-edge solutions for our data centers. The role will suit individuals that have worked in data center development, design, engineering, commissioning, or operations roles. Specifically, those with deep domain knowledge of MV/LV distribution, transformers, switchgear, generators, UPSs, battery storage, SCADA and EPMS.

This role will focus on plant and equipment products and systems development, identification, Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) life-cycle analysis, specifications, selection, sustainability and deployment standards. The role will work closely with design, sustainability, testing and commissioning, and operations teams.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical guidance to colleagues to better understand technology products and systems, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Lead and manage technology requirements within your domain of expertise.
  • Develop and implement strategies for the selection, deployment, and optimisation of data centre plant and equipment.
  • Oversee the identification and evaluation of new technologies to enhance data centre speed to market, performance and efficiency.
  • Ensure full lifecycle Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is applied to plant and equipment selections.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure effective integration of new technologies into new and existing data centre infrastructure.
  • Monitor industry trends and advancements to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Ensure plant and equipment selections meet in country regulations and industry standards.
  • Prepare and coordinate the development of data centre, plant, equipment and systems specifications and deployment standards.
  • Prepare and present reports on technology investigations, benefits and challenges
  • Ensure sustainability is integrated into all aspects.
  • Develop working level relationships with leading technology suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or a related field.
  • Applicants with technical qualifications with relevant work experience will be considered.
  • Strong domain knowledge of technology and systems.
  • Mission critical development, design, engineering, commissioning, or operations.
  • Ability to manage multiple work priorities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Certifications related to data centre management or technology.
  • Experience with sustainable and energy-efficient data centre technologies.
