Job Summary

The Data Ownership and Stewardship Champion plays a pivotal role in promoting and implementing effective data management practices in Standard Chartered Bank through the practices by Data Owners and Data Stewards. This includes setting up Data Ownership and Stewardship standards and/or guidelines. This role is responsible for ensuring that Data Ownership and Stewardship is implemented across the Bank and effective in ensuring that Data is accurately owned, managed, and utilised in ways that support the Bank’s business and risk management objectives.

Responsibilities

Strategy

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Data Ownership and Stewardship toolset, including the standards and/or guidelines, the operating model and engagement approach.
  • Provide overall plan and direction in mobilising existing data professionals to set up a Bank-wide Data Stewardship program.

Business

  • Align data Governance initiatives with business goals through the network of Data owners and stewards, including any change program goals.
  • Act as the Bank wide Champion for the network of Data owners and stewards.
  • Lead discovery work on existing Data ownership and stewardship practices within the Bank.
  • Lead the gap analysis of industry best practices in Data ownership and stewardship, current state within the Bank and align with business goals.
  • Prepare and present regular updates on the progress of Data stewardship program to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Foster a collaborative and continuous improvement culture by proactively identifying opportunities for enhancing Data stewardship practices within the community of practice (CoP) for Data stewardship.

Technical Oversight

  • Provide active advisory to network of Data owners and stewards on development and improvement of standards, methods, tools, applications, and processes.
  • Promote the development and improvement of data platforms within and for the network of Data owners and stewards.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing of available technology within the Group and in the industry to the network of Data owners and stewards.
  • Promote data literacy and drive the adoption of Data tools and practices across the network of Data owners and stewards.

Skills And Experience

Key stakeholders

  • Influence senior leadership, internal stakeholders, and external partners to ensure the success of the metrics and monitoring programme.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executives, business unit leaders, country leaders, IT teams, BI teams, advanced analytics teams, HR, and data management teams.
  • Engage stakeholders in the development and implementation of metrics and monitoring strategies.

  • Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business, or Functional policies and procedures.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • 6+ years of experience in Data stewardship program delivery, Data management, governance, or a related field.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing Data stewardship frameworks and programs.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex information to senior stakeholders.
  • Understanding of banking systems and business models.
  • Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven experience in managing large distributed global teams.
  • DAMA Certified and Certified change manager (Prosci-Adkar) preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
