Get to Know the Team

We are a team of product designers focused on various workstreams: navigation, maps, search, crowdsourcing map data like Points of Interest (POI) and imagery, Internet of Things (IoT), and tools utilizing the latest technology such as computer vision and machine learning. Our goal is to develop the best maps for Southeast Asia. Our team is part of a larger design family, including content designers, design research strategists, UX engineers, and Design Ops—about 150 people in total!

Get to Know the Role

As a Lead Product Designer on the Geo team, you will enhance product design quality in the maps platform, focusing on search and discovery experiences for the Grab consumer super app. You will collaborate closely, exploring user needs and creating impactful business solutions. We're seeking exceptional designers excited about the opportunity to significantly impact how millions of people across Southeast Asia interact with Grab.

You will be reporting to a Senior Design Manager, this is a hybrid role based in Singapore

The Critical Tasks You will Perform

  • You will ensure we build the right solutions by addressing value, usability, feasibility, and viability and negotiating necessary trade-offs with minimal waste.
  • You will drive collaboration across domains, functions, and teams, facilitating agreement and efficiency through discussions, workshops, and exploration.
  • You will explore problems, discover solutions, and deliver them across teams.
  • You will be a mentor by helping designers in adjacent teams deliver better work.
  • You will develop problem-framing approaches, establishing new starting points that lead to new kinds of solutions, affecting strategic thinking across teams.
  • You will collaborate with the design research operations team to confirm design assumptions.
  • You will design simple solutions to complex problems, integrating multiple 'products' into an experience and unlocking new value.
  • You will produce visual designs that enhance the quality, consistency, and credibility of user experiences.
  • You will use a variety of prototyping tools and methods to create interactive and realistic prototypes with complex functionality.

Qualifications

What Skills You will Need

  • Minimum of 6+ years in product design, focusing on consumer design.
  • n excellent portfolio demonstrating design process, shipped work, and impact, showcasing exceptional design ability.
  • Ability to craft strong design presentations and storytelling by keeping users in mind.
  • Adept at solving complex problems with great attention to detail.
  • Strong track record of iterative design, working closely with product, tech, and business partners from inception through implementation.
  • Excellent fundamentals in interaction and visual design craft and practice.
  • Experience in coaching others in interaction design, visual design, or prototyping.
  • Excellent knowledge of mobile and front-end web standards and development.
  • Proficient and highly skilled in Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and other design tools.
  • Experience in Service Design, User Research, Front-end Development, Accessible Design and in Design Systems
  • Experience designing search and maps products.
