What The Role Is

The Smart Nation Group has merged with the Ministry of Communications and Information to form the Ministry of Digital Development and Information (MDDI). Within the Smart Nation Group – Digital Government, the Smart City Systems team partner and corral key stakeholders from agencies, in the built environment and digital technology domains, and industry players to orchestrate the use of data and technologies to achieve strategic Smart City outcomes. We are hiring this position for the Smart City Division (SCD) within SNDG.

For this role, you will work with multi-agency stakeholders to coordinate and accelerate the adoption of Standards and Enabling Infrastructures, bringing to life cross-cutting Smart City solutions in existing and new districts in Singapore.

What You Will Be Working On

  • Design and develop information architecture to enable system-of systems implementation with syntactic and semantic interoperability.
  • Conceptualise and develop web services and applications to facilitate onboarding and transformation of different vertical datasets into standard data models for data visualisation and analytics.
  • Develop risk assessment framework to determine impact of risks and corresponding risk mitigation strategies for cyber-physical systems in the built environment domain.
  • Support standardisation activities across key agencies and industry players to develop technical reference and best practices.
  • Project management of Smart City programme, including progress reporting, governance and change management.


What We Are Looking For

  • Experience in Engineering, Information Systems, Operations Research, Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in strategic planning, information architecture, systems/data engineering or related domains.
  • Strong ability in critical thinking and articulating concepts, strategies and issues with clear framing, as well as possess excellent written and presentation skills.
  • Excellent project management skills with proven multi-stakeholder management experience.
  • Familiar with full-stack development on JavaScript frameworks such as Node.js, Next.js and React, database technology such as Postgres and MongoDB and deployment of web services on cloud platform.
  • Strong foundation in communication and messaging protocols (e.g. Modbus, OPC-UA, DDS, MQTT5, AMQP), context information management standards (e.g. ETSI NGSI-LD), and IT/OT security standards (e.g. NIST 800-82 and IEC 62443).
  • Experience in standardisation activities and risk management are beneficial.
