Project Overview

Our client, a leading consulting firm, is seeking experienced Data Scientists with proficiency in Python to support their Clients in the Banking & Financial Services industry across Southeast Asia. The role involves supporting multiple projects for large, market-leading banks that are currently in the initial kick-off stages of significant digital financial services initiatives. This is a 6-month remote engagement with the possibility of extension based on project needs and performance.

Key projects include developing advanced models for financial crime detection by analyzing extensive datasets to identify signs of financial crime before they occur and establishing more robust controls within the banks.

Additionally, the team will design and build new credit decisioning models utilizing alternative data sources to predict customer credit behaviors accurately, distinguishing between good and bad credit customers for lending purposes.

Key responsibilities:

  • Developing analytical models: Design, build, and implement a variety of analytical models focused on financial crime detection and credit decisioning, leveraging alternative data sources to enhance predictive accuracy.
  • Utilizing technical expertise: Apply strong proficiency in Python to develop and optimize models that meet project objectives and client needs.
  • Collaborative engagement: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including other data scientists, analysts, and stakeholders, to ensure seamless integration and effective implementation of models across various financial services contexts.
  • Remote collaboration with occasional travel: Operate primarily in a remote working environment with some travel required for key workshops and meetings to facilitate critical phases of project development and stakeholder engagement.
  • Contributing to multiple workstreams: Engage in diverse projects across different areas within financial services, adapting models to suit various analytical needs and objectives.

Your background:

  • Experience: 5-10 years of experience in data science, particularly in building and deploying predictive models within the financial services sector.
  • Technical skills: Strong proficiency in Python is essential for developing and implementing the required analytical models.
  • Industry knowledge: Experience working on projects related to financial crime detection, credit risk assessment, or similar areas within banking and financial services is advantageous.
  • Language proficiency: Excellent command of English to effectively communicate within the team and with various stakeholders across different regions.
