Responsibilities

  • Conduct bench work, such as, but not limited to: raw material testing, formulation preparation, performance evaluation. All under the framework of GLP and lab ESHQ guidelines.
  • Record and interpret data gathered, and present results clearly to support technical questions and product launches in SEA region.
  • Idea generation of applied technology innovations, answering/following market trends and customer needs, in SEA region.
  • Alignment of new methodology with other labs and technical teams in the region or within Evonik.
  • Conduct searches on identified topics (e.g. trends, competitors, IP; prior art, etc.) relevant to the technology areas he/she is working on.
  • Prepare lab reports and guideline formulations
  • Ensure all lab equipment are in good working condition and coordinating with vendors for instrument calibration/repairs as required
  • Ensure lab supplies are sufficient, including raw materials inventory and updating lab documents (SDS, CoA, SOP, licenses/permits, etc.)
  • Provide hands-on lab training to sales, distributors, and customers

Requirements

  • Bachelor/Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biological Sciences, Cosmetic Science or any other relevant discipline
  • 3-5 years of laboratory experience in formulation development, preferably within personal care industry.
  • Good command of English language (verbal and written). Proficiency in a second language will be an advantage.
  • Familiar with MS Excel, Powerpoint, Words, and Outlook
  • Good technical report writing skills
  • Good understanding of the fundamentals of applied technology/cosmetic science for skin care and hair care applications, for example: formulation technology, skin physiology, biochemistry, microbiology/preservation, surfactant chemistry, sensory/texture
  • Good technical knowledge on raw materials used in personal care products
  • Some knowledge of testing methodologies performed for personal care products
  • Hands-on experience in preparation of chemicals and operating instruments
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices and safety procedures/regulations
  • Some travelling may be required
