Job Description

We are looking for candidates to join the fusion energy effort in the newly formed Plasma Physics & Energy Group (PPE), Institute of High Performance Computing, A*STAR. PPE focuses primarily on microwave plasma diagnostics and RF heating and current drive (H&CD), with an emphasis on solving the challenges faced by future fusion energy systems. The new hire is expected to contribute to research in magnetic confinement fusion and to maintain our in-house codebase.

While the job has a primarily computational focus, there is leeway for analytical and experimental research, should there be interest.

The Key Scope Of Work Includes

  • Understanding the physics of fusion plasmas, plasma diagnostics, and RF H&CD.
  • Working closely with the rest of the team to develop, validate, deploy, and maintain analysis codes to better interpret diagnostics data from fusion experiments.
  • Supporting local and international collaborators in fusion research.

Job Requirements

  • Strong background in physics or engineering; preferably possessing a BSc or MSc in Physics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, or Engineering (Aerospace, Chemical, Civil, Software, Environmental).
  • At least 5 years of experience
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as, but not limited to, Python, C/C++, Fortran, and Julia.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills, ability to apt and work effectively as a member of a team, Strong communication and excellent writing skills, and be self-motivated with a high degree of professional integrity.
