About the Company

*We've moved to https://www.linkedin.com/company/asian-international-arbitration-centre/ The Kuala Lumpur Regional Centre for Arbitration (KLRCA) is a non-profit, non-governmental international arbitral institution established in 1978 under the auspices of the Asian-African Legal Consultative Organisation (AALCO). Established pursuant to the host country agreement between Malaysia and AALCO, the KLRCA has been accorded privileges and immunities for the purposes of executing its functions as an independent, international organisation. The KLRCA provides institutional support for domestic and international arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution (ADR) proceedings to settle disputes for the benefit of parties engaged in trade, commerce and investments with and within the Asia Pacific region. The KLRCA has developed new rules to cater to the growing demands of the global business community such as the KLRCA Arbitration Rules, the i-Arbitration Rules, the Fast Track Rules as well as the Mediation and Conciliation Rules. There has been a tremendous interest in the i-Arbitration Rules and this is evident with KLRCA winning the prestigious Global Arbitration Review Award for innovation by an individual or organisation in 2012. With regards to investor-State arbitration, the KLRCA administers investor-State disputes referred to it under the 2009 ASEAN Comprehensive Investment Agreement - a multilateral investment treaty between all member States of ASEAN. Furthermore, pursuant to its 2014 agreement with the International Centre for Settlement of Investments Disputes (ICSID), the KLRCA can be used as an alternative hearing venue for ICSID cases, should the parties to proceedings conducted under the auspices of ICSID desire to conduct proceedings at the seat of the KLRCA. This applies mutatis mutandis to the Additional Arbitration and Conciliation Rules of ICSID.
